Straight from the Horst's Mouth: 2010 World Cup on Target
Take a deep breath and relax because the preparations for the 2010 World
Cup in South Africa are going just fine and dandy. That is the word according
to Horst R. Schmidt and he should know because he is the man helping to
run the show.
'There were certainly some difficulties initially in the
building of stadiums, but now everything is on schedule.
'I do not doubt for a second that the World Cup will take place in South
Africa, it will be a different World Cup from the one which took place
last summer in Germany, but it will certainly not be any less impressive,'
added Schmidt, who is also general secretary of the German Football Federation
(DFB).
This is all very encouraging but I still have one complaint. I wish that
Horst and the gang could speed up time and make 2010 happen tomorrow.
It is the build up to the World Cup that always kills me.
