FIGC director Gigi Riva has called for Francesco Totti to clarify his
international future.
The Roma skipper promised to speak to Gigi Riva later this
summer, but his talk about playing the "important games" rasied
concerns, ans controversy.
Riva has responded by clearly asking Totti to either commit completely,
for all games hereon, or step aside.
"We will wait to evaluate matters and speak with Totti, then the
coach will make a decision," he said.
"Clearly though, we cannot have any doubts from that point onwards.
There must be a clear and definite decision.
"There is time to find a definitive solution. We will speak with
Totti and find out how things stand. He will know what he wants to do
and so it is up to him to give us an answer."
Riva also spoke of his season-ending meeting with Roberto Donadoni.
"We looked at the situation at the end of the season," he revealed.
"We discussed Totti, Alessandro Nesta's farewell, the results and
upcoming games including a friendly with Hungary in August."
On Nesta, he was reconciled to a full retirement from international football:
"He is 31 years old, has 78 caps and had some very bad injuries.
Alessandro spoke openly and clearly. We must only thank him for all he
has done, as he was a leader of the Nazionale in these years."
