Midfielder Scott Brown has played down all the hype surrounding
him.
The 22-year-old Celtic and Scotland star is uncomfortable with the adulation
he has been receiving following his emergence as a midfield force at Celtic
Park.
His style of play has led to people comparing him to Paul Gascoigne, which
he admits is complimentary and he aspires to be as great one day, but
for the time being he is just happy to get on with the job of playing.
"I've heard about the comparison with Gascoigne and I must admit
it's very flattering," Brown told the Daily Record.
"But when you hear things like that it does sound a bit strange.
"Look, I'm just a 22-year-old boy who is trying to make a name for
myself in this game. Paul Gascoigne was one of the best midfielders ever
to come out of British football. The guy is a legend.
"You're talking about a player who starred in World Cups and had
a long career at the very highest level.
"Yes, I would love to do the same. One day I would love to be thought
of as Scotland's answer to Gazza.
"But right now I have a long, long way to go. I'd be fooling myself
if I thought any different."
