Euro 2008 qualifiers results: Scotland beats France,
England victorious
Scotland sits atop Group B after winning 01- the Euro 2008 qualifying
game against France, the English squad makes 3-0 against Russia.
McFadden scored the winning goal for Scotland in the 64'
and the only goal during the Euro 2008 qualifier visit to France on Wednesday.
The French football team threw all they've got against the Scottish in
this very important game between the leaders in Group B, but goalkeeper
Craig Gordon kept his net virgin through. The Scottish defence was on
top of their game and made it possible for Scotland to take the first
spot in Group B. Italy comes second in Group B, one point behind Scotland,
after beating Ukraine 1-2 and France slipped down to number 3. Only three
games are left and the French team need to find their beat before Euro
2008 turns into a mirage for the Les Bleus, who will play against Faroe
Islands next. Scotland is facing Ukraine on October 13th.
And in Group E, Michael Owen proclaimed his return for the English team
with two quick goals in the 7' and 31'. A goal by Ferdinand in the 84'
completed the classic 3-0 victory against Russia at Wembley on Wednesday.
The victory lifted England to second place in Group E, two points ahead
of Russia and three points behind the leader Croatia.
