Russia boss Guus Hiddink admitted his side had been "scared"
in their 3-0 defeat to England.
England dented Russia's Euro 2008 qualifying hopes with the impressive
victory at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Hiddink hopes his side will learn their lessons from the defeat ahead
of the return meeting in Moscow next month.
"It's been a good lesson for us in being effective," Hiddink
told The Sun.
"We've tried to play attractive football but the result reflects
the difference between the two teams. One team tried to play and the other
was very effective with the few chances they created.
"The English players are used to playing tough games every week.
Our players don't have this competition and we were scared."
Hiddink was left to bemoan Russia having a goal ruled out when the score
was 1-0 when Konstantin Zyryanov had a goal harshly disallowed for alleged
handball.
"It's a pity we had a goal ruled out for handball at 1-0 because
at that moment we had some pressure and they were panicking," added
Hiddink.
"That was a bad period for England and if that goal had stood, it
would have been worse.
"Now we have to win in Moscow next month but we are always confident
at home. England are ahead but nothing has been decided yet."
