The defeat became the first for the Russian national side
with Guus Hiddink at the helm taking into account official games only.
No wonder the outcome of the clash was a bitter disappointment for the
manager.
"We will analyze the game and draw conclusions but I am very disappointed
at the moment," said Guud Hiddink to Sport Express.
"How can a team dominating for long spells suffer a 0:3 defeat?"
"We made a poor start to the game, conceded an early goal and started
to play only when we were 0:1 behind."
"It was exactly then when Zyryanov scored but his goal was ruled
out for handball."
"I can't say whether it was a handball or not but a number of competent
British journalsits said to me that it was not."
"It is really frustrating when the referees steal a goal from you,
it is still more frustrating to know that it was a logical and a well-deserved
goal."
"So instead of 1:1 on the scoreboard it soon became 0:2 for us and
I am sure the referee also had his hand in it."
"Our players are full of revengeful thoughts and they keep saying
that the Englishmen will have hard times in Moscow."
"Yet it is clear that we have to improve a lot to be able to beat
opponents like England."
"We have to draw the right conclusions before the return-match."
The manager also pointed out that the match became a good but a cruel
lesson for his side.
