Having performed so impressively on his return to the England
team, Emile Heskey could be a doubt for October's UEFA EURO 2008T qualifiers
against Estonia and Russia after suffering a suspected broken metatarsal
on Premier League duty with Wigan Athletic FC on Saturday.
Acclaim
The burly 29-year-old was recalled by his country last week for the first
time since the 2004 UEFA European Championship, and earned widespread
acclaim for his link-up play with Michael Owen in the successive 3-0 Wembley
victories against Israel and Russia. However, Heskey lasted just nine
minutes of the 1-1 draw against Fulham FC today before being taken to
hospital for x-rays. "It is very disappointing for Emile," said
Wigan manager Chris Hutchings.
