Russian captain Andrei Arshavin saw red card for violent
conduct against his opponent during Russia's away clash in Andorra.
The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body decided the offence merits two-match
ban that means Arshavin will have to miss two matches of Euro-2008 finals
against Spain and Greece.
"I laid hopes I would be banned for only one game, however the disciplinary
body decided to give me two-match suspension", said Andrei Arshavin
to Sport Express.
"It means that I have chances to go to the European championship
with the national side."
"It is only up to the manager to decided this issue while my job
is to play football and prove myself to the coaching staff."
"We will lodge an appeal against this sanction so I am hopeful the
UEFA would change their decision."
