ARSHAVIN TOPS ZVEZDA AWARD CHARTS
Andrei Arshavin becomes the best player in Russia and CIS countries as
he scooped the Sport Express' Zvezda award.

The journalists from 15 former Soviet countries voted Zenit
leader Andrei Arshavin the best player of the year.
Russian national team captain left behind Alexander Kerzhakov and Alexander
Hleb on the second and the third places respectively.
Arshavin earned 144 points while Kerzhakov got 110 and Hleb grabbed 107
points after the journalists' voting.
Zenit captain had a brilliant season after he helped his club lift Premier
Liga trophy and contributed much to the Russian side's glorious campaign
to the final stage of the continental showpiece.
The last game of the Euro-2008 qualifying phase gives much to think about
for the Russian halfback since he was sent off the field in the second
half of the match against Andorra.
The UEFA control and disciplinary body signed Arshavin on a three-match
suspension thus making it impossible to play in the opening games of the
European play-offs stage.
However Russian supporters hope Andrei will be able to show his best skills
during the next season and help both Zenit and his national team.
