Spartak forward had 199 goals under his belt ahead of the
game, and scored once in the second half of the match to become Russian
football' 22nd centurion.
"I stopped at 99-goals mark in the previous season, however it didn't
trouble me much", said Pavlyuchenko to Sport Express.
"I was not going to finish my career, and I was sure I would complete
the century."
"I picked a slight injury during Russian national team's gathering
and it kept me out of action in Spartak opening game against Marseille."
"I talked to Stanislav Cherchesov ahead of that game and he said
he wanted to see me in better form prior to UEFA Cup crunch matches."
"Our head coach was dissatisfied with this situation since he wanted
us to stay in the club."
"Spartak's away game in Marseille demonstrated that the team wasn't
at the best form, but the return leg showed that we are on the right way."
