Guus Hiddink's champs suffered a frustrating 0-3 defeat
from Romanian opposition in a friendly match in Bucharest on Wednesday.
FC Moskva striker Roman Adamov and Zenit St. Petersburg recruit Roman
Shirokov made their debut in the Russian national team squads, while CSKA
custodian Igor Akinfeev returned to the post No.1.
Romanian forward Ciprian Marica broke the deadline on the stroke of half-time
and the hosts found the target for the second time on the 60th minute
with Daniel Niculae's goal.
Marius Niculae delivered the final blow with a header fifteen minutes
later.
"We saw the difference between two Euro-2008 finals fellow-participants",
said Guus Hiddink to Sport Express after the match.
"One of the teams comprises of players who perform in the leading
European leagues, and the other team is drawn entirely from Russian Premier
Liga players."
"Unfortunately, there are not enough games at the breaking point
in the Russian championship and moreover we lacked international experience."
"It was a dreadful loss, but I am glad we tried ourselves against
such a strong opponent."
"I got very useful information in Bucharest so with more than two
months before Euro-2008 kick-off we have enough issues to think about."
