Striker Blaise Nkufo has signed a one-year extension to
his contract at FC Twente as he bids to win a place in Switzerland's UEFA
EURO 2008T squad.
Existing deal
The 32-year-old striker - who was born in Kinshasa in DR Congo - has extended
his contract until 2010 with his current deal having been due to expire
next summer. "I am very happy to extend my contract," said the
15-times capped international, who has scored twice for Switzerland. "I
have faith in the future of the club. I hope to score a lot more goals
for Twente and look forward to more support from our fantastic fans."
Prolific scorer
Twente are currently fourth in the Eredivisie and on course to securing
a European place for next season. A former Lausanne-Sports, FC Yverdon-Sports,
FC Lugano, Grasshopper-Club, FC Luzern and 1. FSV Mainz 05 player, Nkufo
joined Twente from Hannover 96 in 2003 and has been their top scorer in
every season since, scoring 21 goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances this
time around.
