Parreira: South Africa will host an "excellent"
World Soccer Cup
Brazilian soccer coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, on Wednesday stated that
South Africa, which he is no longer coaching since Monday, will host the
2010 World Cup that will surprise everyone.
The work is excellent. The world will be surprised by the excellent Cup.
"They have all the modern infrastructure, highways, railroads, hotels,
the country is beautiful and offers many options," said Parreira
in an interview published on Wednesday by Terra Esportes internet page.
Three of the five stadiums for 2010's Cup will be finished on 2009.
"There is nothing to worry about respect infrastructure. The stadiums
are excellent. Three of them will be used in the Confederation Cups"
in 2009, said Parreira.
In the interview, Parreira, 65, refused to stated he resigned from his
post as coach of South-Africas soccer team two years before the contract
concluded due to personal reasons.
"Everything was good, but I was having difficulties keeping a professional
and emotional balance," said Parreira.
Parreira did not confirm rumors that his wife faces serious health problems
but stated "there are higher things I have to face in Brazil"
and he said he plans to return to his South American country on May.
Parreira coached South Africa's team in 21 games, obtaining nine victories,
six ties and suffered six defeats.
