Ottmar Hitzfeld will begin his rein as Switzerland coach
with a friendly against Cyprus on 20 August after he replaces Jakob Kuhn
following UEFA EURO 2008T.
Preparation time
FC Bayern Munchen coach Hitzfeld will start a two-year contract in July,
and keen for the side to have an outing before they kick-off their 2010
FIFA World Cup qualification campaign, the Swiss Football Association
announced they would face Cyprus in mid-August. The game will be held
at Stade de Geneve and, should Switzerland reach the UEFA EURO 2008T final
on home soil, would take place just three weeks after the tournament.
Switzerland have played Cyprus five times, winning four and drawing once.
