"Prosecutor will ask for 5 years": Kokorin's
lawyer tells what he expects from court
The proceedings in the case of debauchery caused by the athletes are
taking place in Moscow.
A representative of Alexander Kokorin's brother has spoken about his predictions
about the proceedings in the Kokorin and Mamaev case. According to him,
he has no doubt that the prosecutor will ask for 5 years of real imprisonment
for the defendants. However, at the same time, the lawyer believes that
the case has begun to fall apart, since violations had been made during
the collection of evidence and questioning of witnesses.
Zenit forward Kokorin and foremr Krasnodar footballer Mamaev previously
offered their own version of events to the court. They said that they
did not want to cause the debauchery, however, the victims themselves
provoked the athletes, insulting them with obscene words.
Footballers Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, as well as Kokorin's younger
brother Kirill and their common friend Aleksandr Protasovitsky were arrested
on charges of beating Head of a Ministry of Industry and Trade department
Denis Pak and the driver of Channel One TV host Olga Ushakova, Vitaly
Solovchuk, in October 2018. In early April, the duration of their stay
in the pre-trial detention center was extended until September 25.
